Megan Sousa is an Afro-Portuguese American comedic/dramatic actress, standup/improv comedienne, writer and dancer. She has worked on several highly regarded shows such as: ABC's Ten Days in the Valley & truTV's Laff Mobb Laff Tracks.


Actress - Comedienne - Writer - Host

Megan brings a unique, fun and fresh voice to her work. Her essence is that of the "girl next door" yet edgy and quirky wrapped in one. Her diverse background of immigrant Portuguese and southern roots makes her a a bit of a wildcard when it comes to screen acting, improv, and stand-up comedy. After completing her studies at Tuskegee University, Megan moved to Los Angeles from Alabama with a couple hundred dollars and a dream. She has appeared in various sketches and podcasts and continues to expand her portfolio. Giving back is vital so being involved with the youth is something she is very passionate about. Ms. Sousa mentors at risk youth in furthering education and creative programs. Her focus is positive reinforcement/confidence building, meditation and how to pursuing the film business. TV On-Air ABC & TruTV

Megan has worked with award winning directors such as Carey Williams, Terri Timely, and Regina King. During 2016 pilot season, she booked a lead role playing a young Gina Torres in the ABC pilot "DEATH OF EVA SOFIA VALDEZ". After signing with Innovative Artists, she booked a co-star role on ABC's "TEN DAYS IN THE VALLEY", season premiered October 1, 2017. Soon after she lands two episodes on truTV's new comedy series "LAFF MOBB'S LAFF TRACKS" produced by Def Comedy Jam co-creator Bob Sumner and hosted by DJ and comedian Cipha Sounds. truTV is flipping comedy on its head with Laff Mobb’s Laff Tracks, a new half-hour series where the next generation of comedians brings their hilarious personal stories to life with a playful reinvention of stand-up. Season premieres January 3rd, 2018.

All Things Comedy

If she isn't performing live you can catch her playing characters in topical Funny Or Die sketches. Active in the comedy community, Megan is a recipient of the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) Diversity Scholarship and performs regularly with her improv team Cornbread Kitchen. They make rounds throughout indie showcases including iO West, Second City, The Pack, The Nerdist, UCB Inner Sanctum, The Clubhouse and around town. Megan also performs stand-up regularly while hosting/producing her own LYTComedy Show at Cellar Hollywood and can be seen on stage around Los Angeles: The HaHa Comedy Club, Ice House, The Comedy Store and Flappers Comedy Club. She recently completed a circuit in New York at The West End Comedy Club, Ray Dejon's Laffaholics Comedy Club in Brooklyn, The Grisly Pear and The PIT in Manhattan. Megan has performed on shows with Tom Green, Michael Blackson, Slink "Black Jesus" Johnson, Alex Thomas and Gerry Bednob


Theaatrical Film 

The comedy short "BUSHBABY" (2016), starring writer/director Tarik Jackson and featuring Tony Baker, is a personal story on gentrification in Brooklyn. Megan has a supporting role in the award winning film and collaborates with Tarik on *TL;DR and other projects.

The sibling rival short film "MAMMA, I MADE IT " (2017), starring Megan Sousa, premiered at Chicago's Black Harvest Film Festival opening night. The comedy was written, produced and also stars Derek Dow.

Megan plays a supporting role in the award-winning feature film "GUYS READING POEMS" (2016). The neo-noir film had it's theatrical release in 2017 playing in select theaters. The experimental film, written/directed by Hunter Lee Hughes explores masculinity, mental illness and poetry. The film stars Patricia Velasquez

Expanding her voice in writing and producing content, she developed a series based on her own origin story in stand-up comedy titled "FRED UNPLUGGED" (2018) and co-stars comedienne Zainab Johnson. Additionally, she co-produced a feature film proof of concept with Assata Jackson, "THE VIRGIN MICHAEL" starring Malcolm David Kelley written/directed by Jonathan Curtiss, Jr. The film was executive produced by No Label and Bow and Arrow. (Both projects are currently in post-production.)
